About me and things that can be seen from a bike.

There’s always something brewing in the PopTech community. From the world-changing people, projects and ideas in our network, a handful of this week’s highlights follows.
This week Soundcloud released a video that explores the four effects sound has on us – physiological, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral – with familiar faces Imogen Heap (PopTech 2008, 2010) and Radiolab host Jad Abumrad (PopTech 2010).
Join Imogen Heap (PopTech 2008, 2010) as she performs live from her garden on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22nd.
On Thursday, PBS’ Media Shift blog profiled community builder and PopTech 2011 speaker Milenko Matanovic. Matanovic uses collaboration to transform communities nationwide.
Tech site Mashable takes a look at 2010 Social Innovation FellowYasser Ansari’s Project Noah and declares, “If Charles Darwin created Foursquare, it might look like this.”
Finally, do you create data visualizations? Yes? Brian Eno (PopTech 2006) wants to give you $30,000.

What’s this?

For security reasons I always keep my bike in my hallway. Recently there has been a lot of snow and mud in the streets and that, of course, leaves traces…

This peculiar image was created on my floor by wet mud that dripped from my bike. I find it kind of funny and interesting to look at.

The big question is: what is it?

What a gorgeous short film! Here’s more from Vimeo on “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”:

“Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, “Morris Lessmore” is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) award winning author/ illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg present a new narrative experience that harkens back to silent films and M-G-M Technicolor musicals. “Morris Lessmore” is old fashioned and cutting edge at the same time.”

Everybody was out on the new winter ice this weekend, so I took the bike for an ice-ride. Great fun, my studded tires worked tremendously, and passers by smiled at me. A day of real winter can be a blessing.
